Victory Of Discipleship Acquiring The Mind Of Christ

print
Why did Jesus The Messiah, immediately send out His disciples to preach the Gospel with very little training? Or why didn’t He call those that were trained and working as “Spiritual Leaders” such as the Pharisees, the Scribes, or the Sadducees, or even the Priests? What can we learn about discipleship that we can apply to ourselves today?

There is an underlying reality which became available to all people everywhere which was initiated by Jesus Christ that our lesson today deals with which we have called “Victory Of Discipleship; Acquiring The Mind Of Christ”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Isaiah 54:9 – 17 (KJV)

Isa 54:9  For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.

Isa 54:10  For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.

Isa 54:11  O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.

Isa 54:12  And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.

Isa 54:13  And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.

Isa 54:14  In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.

Isa 54:15  Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.

Isa 54:16  Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.

Isa 54:17  No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

New Testament Scripture Reading:  John 8:30 – 36 (KJV)

Joh 8:30  As he spake these words, many believed on him.

The Truth Will Set You Free

Joh 8:31  Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

Joh 8:32  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Joh 8:33  They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

Joh 8:34  Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

Joh 8:35  And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

Joh 8:36  If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Transforming Power Statements:

1) All the Law and the Prophets (The OT) foretold that Jesus the Messiah was coming from Genesis through Malachi, and there were many who understood “basically” what Messiah was supposed to do; for example Isaiah predicts the virgin birth, the kingship, the rise of the eternal kingdom of the son of David, the crucifixion, the resurrection, and even the discipleship of the followers of God from all people of the earth.

2) There is a new paradigm which began at the first Advent of Jesus Christ, when He began to call out disciples, (Learners) to not only learn from Him, but also to go out (Apostle) to others everywhere beginning at Jerusalem, and ultimately to every person, to the ends of the Earth, calling for all to repent and believe the Gospel, which is the good news of God’s free gift by mercy through the giving of Jesus Christ His Only-Begotten Son for everyone who believes in Him!

3) The great victory of Discipleship is attained through continual fellowship and study of God’s Holy Word, The Bible, being taught frequently by the gifted believers in the Church, and applied to each one who believes through the Holy Spirit, Who is provided by God to continue this process individually as needed allowing each recipient to acquire the mind of Christ.
