Honoring Fatherhood

In our last lesson called: “Setting Your Mind On Things Above” we learned about focusing the direction of our lives toward the future reality of God’s promised heavenly glories rather than the mundane pursuits of the world. In honor of “Father’s Day” let us consider what it means to live our lives “Honoring Fatherhood” the natural system shared with mankind from the Almighty!

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Genesis 2:24 – 25 (KJV)

Gen 2:24  Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Gen 2:25  And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

New Testament Scripture Reading: 1John 3:1 – 3 (KJV)

1Jn 3:1  Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

1Jn 3:2  Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

1Jn 3:3  And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

Transforming Meditative Questions :

1) Have we understood the big picture about the “Biblical View” of fatherhood?

2) Do we realize that God’s Word is capable of being a perfect manual of raising us and our children, in spiritual maturity?

3) How can we serve others needing spiritual development through the paternity of a Holy God?

4) Where do I stand with God? Saved? or Lost?
