Walking the Successful Path of Grace

On last LORD’s day Pastor Landis Fisher began to teach the means by which believers are set apart from all others in the world; which is by the development of true holiness which distinguishes all who accept Christ Jesus as their own personal Savior. This week, he continues in the same though process teaching how we can learn to continue in this path: Walking the “Successful Path of Grace”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 6:18 – 25  (KJV)

Deu 6:18  “You shall do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, that it may be well with you and that you may go in and possess the good land which the LORD swore to give your fathers,
Deu 6:19  by driving out all your enemies from before you, as the LORD has spoken.
Deu 6:20  “When your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What do the testimonies and the statutes and the judgments mean which the LORD our God commanded you?’
Deu 6:21  then you shall say to your son, ‘We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt, and the LORD brought us from Egypt with a mighty hand.
Deu 6:22  ‘Moreover, the LORD showed great and distressing signs and wonders before our eyes against Egypt, Pharaoh and all his household;
Deu 6:23  He brought us out from there in order to bring us in, to give us the land which He had sworn to our fathers.’
Deu 6:24  “So the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God for our good always and for our survival, as it is today.
Deu 6:25  “It will be righteousness for us if we are careful to observe all this commandment before the LORD our God, just as He commanded us.

New Testament Scripture Reading: Colossians 3:1 – 10  (NASB)

Col 3:1  Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Col 3:2  Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
Col 3:3  For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Col 3:4  When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
Col 3:5  Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.
Col 3:6  For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience,
Col 3:7  and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them.
Col 3:8  But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth.
Col 3:9  Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices,
Col 3:10  and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him–

Transforming Power Statements:

1) The calling from God to all is to come to Him in “as is” condition and repent asking for His mercies, and the forgiveness of all their sins, and to become a disciple of His Word in order to learn how to be Holy to please God in all areas of life, and how to overcome the devil and every form of wickedness to demonstrate true holiness.

2) God’s commandments produce the very best conditions for all people; the saved and the lost; and if all people could successfully maintain such a life style; the world would be a far place, but it is true that no one has ever done so perfectly, and the only ones who even approach doing them are the believers in Christ Jesus Who is able to produce real righteousness and the fear of the LORD in everyone believer.

3) A change of mindset is required in order to best achieve the will of God and to set aside the sicknesses of flesh and spirit; and to perfect holiness as time goes by; and as we learn to walk in the successful path of grace to true spiritual success and actual happiness and abiding JOY!!
