True Inner Diagnosis

Greetings and welcome to all present and online, in America and abroad. As we continue in the seventh chapter of Romans, the Apostle Paul instructs us on the deep problem we all face as we examine the requirements of God’s perfect law which renders everyone guilty in the site of a holy God. This week Pastor Landis Fisher teaches about how we must use the law as a means of internal diagnosis as we embrace God’s immeasurable love and grace in a message he has called: “True Inner Diagnosis”

New Testament Scripture Reading: Romans 7:7 – 13  (NASB)
Rom 7:7  What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, “YOU SHALL NOT COVET.”
Rom 7:8  But sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind; for apart from the Law sin is dead.
Rom 7:9  And I was once alive apart from the Law; but when the commandment came, sin became alive, and I died;
Rom 7:10  and this commandment, which was to result in life, proved to result in death for me;
Rom 7:11  for sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me.
Rom 7:12  So then, the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.
Rom 7:13  Therefore did that which is good become a cause of death for me? May it never be! Rather it was sin, in order that it might be shown to be sin by effecting my death through that which is good, that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.
Transforming Power Statements:

#1) The holiness of the law of God amplifies the existence of sin within all the human family, and therefore cannot ever be a means of salvation, but is a revealer of the truth about the fallen sinful heart of man.

#2) The holy law of God is a mirror to reflect the deep seated inner lack of every human being to meet God’s standard of perfection and is designed to send us running to God for mercy as children often do to their parents.

#3) It is not the fault of the law that we are sinners, but it is the work of the law to convict us that we are sinners who always need redemption, grace, and salvation that only God has provided in His Son Christ Jesus.
