The Will of the Perfect King
On last Lord’s day, Pastor Fisher was teaching how that the cross of Jesus Christ was the most serious and the most strange place in the earth where God dealt with justice mercy and righteousness for all who believe. This week we find the Jews and most of the people in mob-like fury against Jesus The Messiah all ready to crucify Him! Why is this? What could be on their minds and in their hearts producing such violence? Well, as we continue our trek through St. Mark, open your Bibles, listen, take a few notes today as we return to our study as our teacher Pastor Fisher shares in a teaching which he calls “The Will of the Perfect King”.

Old Testament Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 8:4 – 10 & 18 (KJV) |
|
1 Sam 8:4 Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah,
1 Sam 8:5 And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.
1 Sam 8:6 But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.
1 Sam 8:7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.
1 Sam 8:8 According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.
1 Sam 8:9 Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet protest solemnly unto them, and show them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.
1 Sam 8:10 And Samuel told all the words of the LORD unto the people that asked of him a king.
1 Sam 8:18 And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.

Transforming Power Statements:
#1) It has been in the hearts of men from the very beginning to desire that a human being be their king rather than God Himself Who is the only one Who would ever treat them completely right and judge them truthfully and fairly; yet there has never been a single human king who has paralleled God nor even come close.
#2) God has decreed that He indeed shall reign as King of kings and LORD of lords and that to Him every knee shall bow and every heart confess that it is so; therefore He spoke these facts in prophecy and set forth to bring them to pass yet even at the coming of Messiah, the Jews were still in rebellion against God’s chosen King and they set forth to crucify Him!
#3) It could be said that all of the Christian life can be summed up to willfully allowing Jesus to take the place of King reigning on the throne of our hearts and judging all things by His Word and His Spirit and putting down all other forms of controls that seek to govern our lives as we yield to the will of the Perfect King. |
