The Sanctifying Relationship With God The Holy Spirit

print

In our last lesson called: “Being Sanctified Against The Enemies Of God” We began to learn that just as there are enemies of God, the same are also “enemies of each believer” as well. Today let us consider the reality that once we are born from above, the ministries that come from God the Holy Spirit through the Holy Word of God are just beginning and they constitute the impetus for sanctification throughout the balance of the life of the believer, through what this lesson teaches, which is: ” The Sanctifying Relationship With The God Holy Spirit”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Psalms 1:1 – 6 (KJV)

Psa 1:1  Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

Psa 1:2  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Psa 1:3  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Psa 1:4  The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

Psa 1:5  Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

Psa 1:6  For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

New Testament Scripture Reading: 1John 2:22 – 29 (KJV)

1Jn 2:22  Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

1Jn 2:23  Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

1Jn 2:24  Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

1Jn 2:25  And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

1Jn 2:26  These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.

1Jn 2:27  But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

1Jn 2:28  And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

1Jn 2:29  If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

Transforming Power Statements:

1) The “basic concept” of the believer in God, has always been the same, which is the idea of doing things the way that God has specified in His Word rather than any other way, which requires the discipline to know what God said, to believe and treasure it over anyone else’s opinion, to nurture the audacity to violate our own fallen will and desires, and to have heartfelt confession to God whenever we fail to do so.

2) The Psalmist’s prescription to reject worldly philosophies, behaviors, and fleshly habits, while rejoicing in the anchoring, sanctifying Word of truth, will provide a continual pattern of stabilizing Godliness, even in the midst of a world of others, who have no regard for living satisfactorily in the sight of God.

3) Jesus came to complete everything required by The Father, for the salvation of all who believe in Him, so that He could provide each one with the indwelling Holy Spirit, Who would take up the continual work of providing Biblical knowledge, understanding, conviction, and comfort as a constant source of spiritual nourishment throughout the balance of their lives, and all to the glory of God.
