The Nurturing Influence Of Mothers Toward Missionaries

2Ti 1:1  Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

2Ti 1:2  To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

2Ti 1:3  I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;

2Ti 1:4  Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

2Ti 1:5  When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

2Ti 1:6  Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

2Ti 1:7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2Ti 1:8  Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

2Ti 1:9  Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

2Ti 1:10  But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

2Ti 1:11  Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

2Ti 1:12  For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

2Ti 1:13  Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

2Ti 1:14  That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

Introduction:

It could be said that the overall MISSION of the CHURCH is the work of the Missionary and TEACHING influence, which was commanded to begin with the Apostles and to continue until the SECOND ADVENT of JESUS!

If we get a full understanding of this, it is easy to realize the great importance of the role of not only missionaries, but the not so often unsung role of Mothers, which has a TREMENDOUS IMPACT on the overall work of the CHURCH!

Ti 2:3  This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

1Ti 2:4  who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

1Ti 2:5  For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

1Ti 2:6  who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.

1Ti 2:9  Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments,

1Ti 2:10  but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.

1Ti 2:11  A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness.

1Ti 2:12  But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.

1Ti 2:13  For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve.

1Ti 2:14  And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.

1Ti 2:15  But women will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.

Eve is called “the Mother of ALL Living”

Jockebed was bold in the preservation of Moses, through whom God delivered HIS LAW (Gen – Duet) to the world.

Whether it was the “unnamed wife” of Noah, Job, or even Lot…. Mothers have been greatly influential throughout the ages, and still play an integral part with their impact on the CHURCH as well today!

Even some who might seem somehow secondary, such as Rahab, Bathsheba, or even Naomi or the Moabitess Ruth, or Hannah mother of Samuel, or the mother and grandmother of Timothy from our text Lois and Eunice, MOTHERS HAVE A SIGNIFICANT impact on the work and progress of the people of God!

2Ki 22:1  Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem; and his mother’s name was Jedidah the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath.

2Ki 22:2  He did right in the sight of the LORD and walked in all the way of his father David, nor did he turn aside to the right or to the left.
