The Mystery Of God’s Choice

Today’s message is the sixth in our series on the mysteries of the Church Age. Today we shall learn another spiritual revelation from the eternal objective voice of the Bible, how throughout the ages of mankind, God has been choosing through “Divine Election” everyone whom He has desired to be saved!  Yes, it is true that there has always been, as it were, an “open door” for “whosoever will” while at the same time, there have been those who have determined “NOT” to be saved, even though God has always given the ability to be saved to everyone! This is another spiritual thing that we learn more details about from Jesus parabolic teaching on the “Tares and the Wheat” so today let’s explore from the Word of God “The Mystery Of God’s Choice”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 16:6 – 7 (KJV)

1Sa 16:6  And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD’S anointed is before him.

1Sa 16:7  But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

New Testament Scripture Reading:  Matthew 13:24 – 30 (KJV)

Mat 13:24  Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

Mat 13:25  But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

Mat 13:26  But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

Mat 13:27  So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

Mat 13:28  He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

Mat 13:29  But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

Mat 13:30  Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Transforming Power Facts:

1) Perhaps one of the most astonishing of the parables in the Bible, is this one in which Jesus describes the inability of mankind to judge the difference between who God will be choosing to be His own versus the ones He is not choosing to be saved, through the illustration of a man who planted “good seed” but an enemy tried to sabotage the crop by planting weeds throughout the entire crop; making it impossible for the untrained eye to properly sort out the good from the bad.

2) Just as surely as we say: “You can’t judge a book by it’s cover” it is also true that evaluating others from their appearance does not work, because there is more to a personality than meets the eye; such as in the case of God’s choice of David as king over Saul, who was rejected by God as king, because of disobedience to God’s commands, which he replaced in exchange for his own personal choices against the clear commands of God.

3) The universal call of the Gospel has been paid for in full by Jesus’ very own blood on the cross of Calvary and the resurrection from the grave after three days and nights, according to the Scriptures, is the proof that Jesus alone, has defeated death and the power of the grave for “whosoever believes in Him” so, where do you stand in your choice to receive God’s free salvation by faith alone in the risen Savior?
