Submitting to God’s Righteousness

The keeping of “Law” has never been done to perfection by mankind even from the days of Adam up until this very second. What this means in brief , is that all who have been declared “Righteous” by God received that status by grace alone, not by their “Works”. Today, as we continue through our study in the book of Romans chapter 10, let us examine the importance of salvation by faith in Christ alone, and not by the works of the Law. Listen to this message our Pastor teacher, Landis Fisher has prepared titled: “Submitting to God’s Righteousness”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 30:10 – 16  (KJV)

Deu 30:10  If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.
Deu 30:11  For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off.
Deu 30:12  It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
Deu 30:13  Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
Deu 30:14  But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.
Deu 30:15  See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
Deu 30:16  In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

New Testament Scripture Reading: Romans 10:4 – 13  (KJV)

Rom 10:4  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
Rom 10:5  For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.
Rom 10:6  But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)
Rom 10:7  Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
Rom 10:8  But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Rom 10:12  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
Rom 10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Transforming Power Statements:

1) The demands of the Holy Law of God are completely righteous and binding upon all mankind requiring total and absolute perfection from anyone who desires to be acceptable to God; and there was never anyone at any time who has ever kept the law in this manner, thus it has always been required that there must be a sacrifice to provide a covering / atonement for the guilty violator of the Law, to expiate their sins in the site of a Holy God.

2) It was not until Jesus the Messiah came to Earth, that there was anyone who was human who was able to meet all the requirements of God’s Holy Law; therefore, Christ is the “End” or the “Fulfillment” of the Law for righteousness to everyone who believes, thus ending a quest for attaining “satisfactory righteousness” by Law-keeping, rather than by Grace.

3) Adam, the federal representative of the human family, who only had “one law to keep”; which he broke, thus mortgaged the souls of all his descendants into the dilemma of sin, and separation from God, thus it took Jesus Christ, the “Last Adam” to “redeem” the debt of Adam by personally fulfilling God’s Holy Law, as well as being Himself the ultimate sacrifice and to thus accomplish reconciliation  for believers, whether Jews or Gentiles, from the wrath of God.
