Jesus Said I Am He

Preacher:

In our last lesson called “Messianic Power Delivered” we learned about how Jesus The Messiah came to Jerusalem at the exact moment that had been specified in the Law and the Prophets, in order to display that Messiah was legitimate and had power to save everyone just as He had promised! In today’s special message for our Palm Sunday Service, let us consider another important thing that Messiah spoke when He showed up just as it had been written in the Old Testament called “Jesus Said I Am He”

Old Testament Scripture Reading Exodus 3:13 – 15 (KJV)

Exo 3:13  And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?

Exo 3:14  And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

Exo 3:15  And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

New Testament Scripture Reading Matthew 21:1 – 11 (NASB)

Mat 21:1  When they had approached Jerusalem and had come to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,

Mat 21:2  saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to Me.

Mat 21:3  “If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.”

Mat 21:4  This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:

Mat 21:5  “SAY TO THE DAUGHTER OF ZION, ‘BEHOLD YOUR KING IS COMING TO YOU, GENTLE, AND MOUNTED ON A DONKEY, EVEN ON A COLT, THE FOAL OF A BEAST OF BURDEN.'”

Mat 21:6  The disciples went and did just as Jesus had instructed them,

Mat 21:7  and brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their coats on them; and He sat on the coats.

Mat 21:8  Most of the crowd spread their coats in the road, and others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them in the road.

Mat 21:9  The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David; BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD; Hosanna in the highest!”

Mat 21:10  When He had entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, “Who is this?”

Mat 21:11  And the crowds were saying, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth in Galilee.”

Transforming Power Statements:

1) Moses asked God what His Name was , at the burning bush while he was in the land of Median tending to his father-in law, Jethro’s (his wife Zipporah’s Dad) flock on the backside of the dessert; and God told him that His Name is “I AM” which means He is the self-sufficient One / The Eternal One, The creator /  The Almighty)

2) When Jesus Christ The Messiah had come and was nearly completed with the required work of fulfilling all things necessary from the Law and The Prophets, Psalms, and Holy Writings of the Old Testament; He was received by most of the Israelites as the Blessed One, during the festival known as the Hallel, which was celebrated each year in anticipation of the coming Messiah. (As written in Zechariah 9:9)

3) Jesus called Himself “I Am” in several passages in the New Testament; seven times in John’s Gospel, and the book of Revelation; as an indication of His equality with God His Father and The Holy Spirit; Therefore, please do as the Israeli believers did on the first Triumphal Entry and call on Jesus Christ to be your LORD and Savior!
