Sanctifying Work Of The Word And The Spirit

print
Salvation of the human soul is a gracious, miraculous act of God, which HE must perform, considering that the lost sinner has no desire nor capability to be saved in that they are living natural lives in an inherited fallen condition. Only God can perform the necessary work to cause the lost to desire and pursue a life of holiness. How does this miracle occur? How can it continue once it gets started? Who gets the “credit” for such a transaction? Today’s message highlights these answers which is called: “Sanctifying Work Of The Word And The Spirit”

Old Testament Scripture Readings: Isaiah 55:8 – 11 & 64:4 (KJV)

Isa 55:8  For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

Isa 55:9  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Isa 55:10  For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

Isa 55:11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Isa 64:4  For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

New Testament Scripture Reading:  1Corinthians 2:6 – 16 (KJV)

1Co 2:6  Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:

1Co 2:7  But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

1Co 2:8  Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

1Co 2:9  But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

1Co 2:10  But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

1Co 2:11  For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

1Co 2:12  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

1Co 2:13  Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

1Co 2:14  But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

1Co 2:15  But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

1Co 2:16  For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Transforming Power Statements:

1) Isaiah reveals that the mind of God is so vastly higher than man’s that there is NO comparison to even be considered by which any “merely human” philosophy could ever produce salvation that is the product of any human works at any time; and that no person has ever stirred himself up in order to even be able to successfully approach God on any merely human terms.

2) God’s Word clearly teaches that all people since the fall of Adam have been born in sin, which has continually gotten worse with each generation and has produced more and more separation from that which is Holy, which is an the essence of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; and is not sought by man; but rather this Holiness causes man to run and hide.

3) The Apostle Paul rebuked the Galatians for having began in the Spirit, but attempting to be perfected by the flesh, which he called “foolishness” just as it is also written in many other passages throughout the Old & New Testaments which agrees with the fact that it is God’s “Sanctifying Work Of The Word And The Spirit” that causes the called believer to grow in true righteousness for which God through His Son Jesus The Christ, gets ALL THE GLORY!
