Resurrection the Power of the Gospel

As we consider the fact that Jesus God’s Only Begotten Son rose from the dead, just what does this mean to us? How are we to understand the meaning of this historic fact? Just what are the implications of such an event and just how does it affect each of us? Listen in today as our pastor, Landis Fisher teaches just what this most famous event in human history means to everyone in a message which he has titled: “Resurrection the Power of the Gospel”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Daniel 12:1 – 4  (KJV)

Dan 12:1  And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
Dan 12:2  And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Dan 12:3  And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
Dan 12:4  But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

New Testament Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 1:1 – 5  (KJV)

1Pe 1:1  Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
1Pe 1:2  Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1Pe 1:4  To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
1Pe 1:5  Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Transforming Power Statements:

1) The promise of the resurrection from the dead is perhaps the most distinguishing factor that gives believers in Jesus Christ hope that is not found in any other form of religion or belief system in that it is the central message from God that proves His total forgiveness of all sin, and complete mercy that actually restores what was lost when Adam disobeyed God bringing the condemnation of death upon all mankind.

2) This hope of resurrection has been taught by Old Testament prophets and is boldly proclaimed by the Holy Apostles of Jesus Christ to be preached to every member of the human family throughout all of human history, and was set in motion by Christ Jesus, God’s Messiah, Who is the only Savior and Mediator between God and Man.

3) Faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ alone, has the power to deliver the believers of God’s promise from worry and guilt and provides hope of reunion with loved ones who also trusted in God in the new heaven and earth which Jesus is preparing for all who trust in Him.
