Relief From The Rat Race of False ReligionGreetings in Christ Jesus!

Why is there such a great number of false prophets in the world and even in the visible church? Why do false religions seem to prosper and deceive multitudes? What is God doing about all this? How can true seekers of truth know they are on the right track in being discipled in the Word and not being misled? Well listen in today as Pastor Landis Fisher teaches a thought provoking message from a new study on this most urgent topic at the Dickerson Memorial Community Church that he has titled: “Relief From The Rat Race of False Religion”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 23:1 – 20  (KJV)
Jer 23:1  Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.
Jer 23:2  Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.
Jer 23:3  And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.
Jer 23:4  And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.
Jer 23:5  Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
Jer 23:6  In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Jer 23:7  Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
Jer 23:8  But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.
Jer 23:9  Mine heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of the LORD, and because of the words of his holiness.
Jer 23:10  For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is not right.
Jer 23:11  For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the LORD.
Jer 23:12  Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.
Jer 23:13  And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.
Jer 23:14  I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.
Jer 23:15  Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land.
Jer 23:16  Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD.
Jer 23:17  They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.
Jer 23:18  For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?
Jer 23:19  Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.
Jer 23:20  The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.
New Testament Scripture Reading: 2 Thessalonians 2:1 – 17  (NASB)
2 Th 2:1  Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together to Him,
2 Th 2:2  that you may not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.
2 Th 2:3  Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,
2 Th 2:4  who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.
2 Th 2:5  Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things?
2 Th 2:6  And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he may be revealed.
2 Th 2:7  For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.
2 Th 2:8  And then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming;
2 Th 2:9  that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders,
2 Th 2:10  and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.
2 Th 2:11  And for this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they might believe what is false,
2 Th 2:12  in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.
2 Th 2:13  But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.
2 Th 2:14  And it was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Th 2:15  So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us.
2 Th 2:16  Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace,
2 Th 2:17  comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.
Transforming Power Statements:

1) It is the responsibility of the true shepherds of God to teach the saints of God the unadulterated Word of God and that they must learn to develop and maintain a correct and wholesome view of the Scriptures with the understanding that all that is accurate and reliable about God has been written in the Word.

2) Navigating the rat race of false religion requires discernment of who are the true prophets of God versus who are the false prophets, as well as what is the right interpretation of the Word versus any incorrect or twisted interpretation of the Word.

3) Perhaps one of the greatest most difficult to understand factors of what is called in the Scriptures “The mystery of iniquity” is how the ones who do not love the Word and it’s true interpretation, are given over to deception as a judgment for believing a lie rather than the truth.
