Redemption by the Blood of Christ

In times like we live in, there is a tremendous need to have something that is sure and trustworthy to hold on to while the winds of the world blow confusion into our hectic lives. The Apostle Paul instructed the Ephesians not to be children, tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine by the sleight of men in cunning craftiness whereby they lie in wait to deceive, but be rooted and grounded in the truth. So today as we continue on our detour from tour study through the gospel of Mark in honor of the celebration of the resurrection of Messiah Jesus, Pastor Landis Fisher has prepared a special topical message teaching on the greatness of the salvation our God has provided through His excellent Son in a sermon he has titled: “Redemption by the Blood of Christ”.

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Hosea 3:1 – 5  (NASB)
Hosea 3:1  Then the LORD said to me, “Go again, love a woman who is loved by her husband, yet an adulteress, even as the LORD loves the sons of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love raisin cakes.”
Hosea 3:2  So I bought her for myself for fifteen shekels of silver and a homer and a half of barley.
Hosea 3:3  Then I said to her, “You shall stay with me for many days. You shall not play the harlot, nor shall you have a man; so I will also be toward you.”
Hosea 3:4  For the sons of Israel will remain for many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar, and without ephod or household idols.
Hosea 3:5  Afterward the sons of Israel will return and seek the LORD their God and David their king; and they will come trembling to the LORD and to His goodness in the last days.
New Testament Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 1:18 – 25  (KJV)
1 Pet 1:18  Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1 Pet 1:19  But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
1 Pet 1:20  Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
1 Pet 1:21  Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
1 Pet 1:22  Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
1 Pet 1:23  Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
1 Pet 1:24  For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
1 Pet 1:25  But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
Transforming Power Statements:

#1) The word “redeem” means to purchase again, and refers to the fact that God already owns us yet He has fashioned a way to purchase those who believe in Him again, and therefore has an even more special relationship with them.

#2) The redemption of believing sinners is God’s idea and was settled in His mind from the foundation of the world, and written in His Word over a course of 1500 years prior to the first advent of Jesus Christ in the Law and the Prophets, the Psalms and Holy writings A.K.A The “Old Testament”.

#3) The blood of Jesus offered on Calvary is the only real atoning sacrifice that actually provided satisfaction to God the Father and is infinitely more valuable than any Old Testament ritual or offering in that it was offered only once and the debt was fully paid for all who believe the gospel.
