Promise of Certain Success

As we press on into this new year, our Pastor Teacher, Landis Fisher has prepared another message of encouragement for us to apply as we move forward in God’s amazing grace. He has titled our message for today: “Promise of Certain Success”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Joshua 1:1 – 9  (KJV)

Jos 1:1  Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,
Jos 1:2  Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
Jos 1:3  Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
Jos 1:4  From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.
Jos 1:5  There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Jos 1:6  Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
Jos 1:7  Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
Jos 1:8  This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Jos 1:9  Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

New Testament Scripture Reading: Matthew 28:16 – 20  (KJV)

Mat 28:16  Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
Mat 28:17  And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
Mat 28:18  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Mat 28:19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Mat 28:20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Transforming Power Statements:

1) God reaffirmed His promises for Abraham and to “his seed” to Moses, the servant of the LORD and upon his death did the same to Joshua as the mantle of faith was passed from one leader to the next in charge, and was reiterated as promises of certain success, with a contingency of the continual development of “good success” as long as God’s word, the book of the Law, was stored up in the mind and spoken out with the mouth continually.

2) The internal environment of the human mind is the battlefield in which war is waged against the soul and is the place where that which is called “the flesh” produces fallen, godless, impulses to work evil within the thoughts of an individual, which if obeyed by the body; the actions thereof produce sin; however, if the Holy Spirit is within this same person, He will prompt you to overrule the negative, godless, impulses and direct the body to do that which glorifies God instead.

3) God’s promise of certain success is still available to each and everyone because God has given His Only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ to all who believe in Him, as payment for all their sins in all of time, which insures that all the promises of God in Him are YES & Amen right now and in the rest of time!
