New Testament Scripture Reading: Hebrews 12:1 – 7 (KJV) |
|
Heb 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Heb 12:3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
Heb 12:4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
Heb 12:5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
Heb 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Heb 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

Transforming Power Statements:
1) Since we all know that there are undesirable circumstances in life, even for the ones who love God, how should we view things when things don’t go as we planned and even when things go wrong or even in a negative direction right at the worst time as we are on our way walking in the path of serving God? The answer is have a proper attitude about who you are but more importantly WHOSE you are.
2) Jesus has promised to prune out the bad things in us to cause us to prosper in the pursuit of our walk with God and represents the most intense example of a person facing dire conditions while being fully dedicated to God, even when the course of His life seemed to take a turn for the worst even more than it ever has for any other person in the history of mankind.
3) Our development of a proper godly attitude must be employed in the midst of the time we are going through the struggles of life when it may seem that God has forsaken us, yet knowing that what we may be going through in many cases might very well be chastening from God in order to escalate our trust in Him even more.
