Love Over Evil Equals Victory

On last Lord’s day, Pastor Fisher opened a topic dealing with understanding further how God continues to reveal His glory in fulfilling the eternal gospel as we zoom in on Jesus and the disciples after the last required symbolic Jewish Seder known to many as “The Last Supper” and reveal to us how Scripture was fulfilled as the final hour for which He had come drew ever closer. This week we shall examine the revealing of the depth of the depravity of man as we press forward in our trek through the fourteenth chapter of St. Mark. So, open your Bibles, listen, take a few notes today as we return to our ongoing study through the gospel of Mark as our teacher Pastor Fisher shares in a teaching which he calls “Love Over Evil Equals Victory”.

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Psalms 109:1 – 7  (KJV)

Psa 109:1  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise;

Psa 109:2  For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.

Psa 109:3  They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.

Psa 109:4  For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.

Psa 109:5  And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

Psa 109:6  Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.

Psa 109:7  When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.

New Testament Scripture Reading: Mark 14:41 – 64  (KJV)
Mark 14:41  And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
Mark 14:42  Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.
Mark 14:43  And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
Mark 14:44  And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.
Mark 14:45  And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.
Mark 14:46  And they laid their hands on him, and took him.
Mark 14:47  And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
Mark 14:48  And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?
Mark 14:49  I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.
Mark 14:50  And they all forsook him, and fled.
Mark 14:51  And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:
Mark 14:52  And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.
Mark 14:53  And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.
Mark 14:54  And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.
Mark 14:55  And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.
Mark 14:56  For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.
Mark 14:57  And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,
Mark 14:58  We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.
Mark 14:59  But neither so did their witness agree together.
Mark 14:60  And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
Mark 14:61  But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
Mark 14:62  And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
Mark 14:63  Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?
Mark 14:64  Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
Transforming Power Statements:

#1) Once the devil entered into Judas an evil course began against Jesus that eventually escalated into a mob-like atmosphere among all the false-religionist, and the misled people and the Romans that proved the hypocrisy of them all and produced a crucial dilemma for the disciples who also misunderstood the mission of Christ’s first advent.

#2) The blindness of evil always looks for a means of self-gratification with no respect to love nor truth; while love always seeks the highest good for all based on the truth.

#3) The Holy Scriptures had already predicted accurately the course of evil as well as the victory of Messiah even against the FULL FURY of the wicked, which was ultimately aimed at God Himself, but can NEVER prevail over the Perfect Love of God which casts out fear and defeats all evil.
