Looking Unto Jesus

As we approach a very special time of year when we traditionally celebrate the perfect accomplishments of our LORD Jesus Christ on behalf of everyone who believes in Him as Savior and LORD, let us transition into an observation of what Jesus came to accomplish during this special season as it pertains to His perfect provision for our salvation and more of how we can apply His techniques to our own lives being His disciples, through an admonition from the writer to the Hebrews in a message titled: “Looking Unto Jesus”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Psalms 110:1 – 7 (KJV)

Psa 110:1  A Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

Psa 110:2  The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.

Psa 110:3  Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.

Psa 110:4  The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

Psa 110:5  The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.

Psa 110:6  He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries.

Psa 110:7  He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.

New Testament Scripture Reading:  Hebrews 12:1 – 3 (KJV)

Heb 12:1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Heb 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Heb 12:3  For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Transforming Power Statements:

1) Throughout all of time God has had the promise of His Son the Messiah, Jesus Christ Who was being sent to bring correction to the problem of sin, by the sacrifice of Himself for all who believe and trust in His provision, and destruction for the ones who do not, as prophesied by David the Psalmist who reveals that Jesus will render the very wrath of God against the unbelieving kings of the world and the heathen.

2) Jesus the Messiah has been admired throughout all of time by the great “cloud of witnesses” who are Old Testament saints who were looking forward to His appearing being saved by His future grace and glory, just as we have been directed to look back to His first coming as proof that He is also coming again with power and great glory!

3) This present world is in turmoil from various “kings” who have lust for power and riches so much that most of them willfully ignore God’s Word and His Son, Who is the heir of all things, but was willing to humble Himself and take upon Himself all penalty for sin and even death in order to satisfy God His Father which makes it a tragedy for them for failing to accept Jesus, Who is the King of kings!
