First and Foremost, God Desires for YOU to Be “Saved”
“The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.” — 2 Peter 3:9
If you are willing to repent of your sins, God’s promise to you is this:
“That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.” — Romans 10:9
What Does It Mean to Be “Saved”?
In the Bible, the term “saved” refers to receiving God’s blessings on Earth and the promise of eternal life in Heaven after death. Being “saved” means being accepted into God’s Kingdom despite our sinfulness, and being delivered from God’s wrath and judgment that is coming upon all who do not repent and believe in Jesus Christ, His one and only Son.
Those who are “saved” have received this salvation as a free gift from God, solely through faith in Jesus Christ. His crucifixion on the Roman cross, the shedding of His blood, and His willing sacrifice of His perfect body, soul, and spirit were given to satisfy God the Father’s righteous wrath and punishment for the sins of the world. This made it possible for anyone who trusts in Jesus’ completed work on the cross, and His resurrection three days later, to share in His inheritance and receive a restored relationship with God — a relationship made possible by His grace alone, known as “eternal life.”
The Gospel: Good News for All
In simple terms, the Gospel (or “Good News”) is that, although all people have sinned, God still loves us and has made a way for us to be saved. Without His mercy, none of us could ever be saved. God understands that every person is born with a sin nature and is incapable of meeting His perfect standard of obedience to His Law. Therefore, salvation is a free gift from God — available to all imperfect people who acknowledge their shortcomings, are willing to repent, and place their faith in His Son, Jesus.
So, Where Do YOU Stand? SAVED! Or LOST!
“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; that whoever believes may in Him have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” -John 3:14-18
