New Testament Scripture Reading: Matthew 21:4 – 11 (MKJV)
Mat 21:4 All this was done so that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
Mat 21:5 “Tell the daughter of Zion, Behold, your King comes to you, meek, and sitting on an ass, even a colt the foal of an ass.”
Mat 21:6 And the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them.
Mat 21:7 And they brought the ass, even the colt, and put their clothes on them, and He sat on them.
Mat 21:8 And a very great crowd spread their garments in the way. Others cut down branches from the trees and spread them in the way.
Mat 21:9 And the crowds who went before, and those who followed, cried out, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!
Mat 21:10 And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
Mat 21:11 And the crowd said, This is Jesus the prophet, from Nazareth of Galilee.
Transforming Power Statements:
1) The Jews celebrated a feast each year known as the “Hallel” (which is the root of the word meaning “Highest Praise” or “Hallelujah”) which was in anticipation of the fulfillment of a long awaited promise from God to send His Messiah, Who was to be the “Seed of Abraham”, “The Mighty One of Jacob”, The “Son of David”, “The Prince of Peace”, “The King of Kings”, “The LORD of Lords”, “The Seed of the woman”, ” The Holy One Of Israel”, “Messiah The Prince”, and many others which had been written from Moses to Malachi; This feast is a session of praise to God for the fulfillment of His promises to send His MESSIAH, Who is “The Anointed One”.
2) Matthew gives the account of what has been known as the “Triumphal Entry” when at The “First Advent of “Jesus the Christ” He came riding into Jerusalem in the manner that had been described by the prophet Zechariah in Chapter 9:9 riding upon a colt of a donkey the foal of a Colt, just as God had written during this feast of Hallel as the people shouted out “Hosanna to the Son of David”; “Hosanna in the highest!” “Blessed in He Who comes in the Name of the LORD”!
3) Today, Palm Sunday 2020AD I need to preach to you that the First Advent of Jesus the Messiah is the MOST IMPORTANT event that has taken place since the creation of the heavens and the earth! and that if you really understand and believe this it will also be to you the MOST IMPORTANT event that ever happened to you in your lifetime, because there is nothing else more important than being SAVED which is the result of believing in Jesus the Messiah, God’s Eternal Son, Whom God has declared to be the KING of ALL THE EARTH!
