Learning the Deep Side of Walking By Faith

Greetings in Christ Jesus our LORD! This week our teacher, Pastor Landis Fisher is continuing a train of thought he began on last LORD’s day with a message that assists us in getting through even some of the troubling things of this life as we deal with the multitude of undesirable things associated with living in a fallen world. Listen in as Pastor Fisher teaches this week’s installment in a message he has titled: “Learning the Deep Side of Walking By Faith”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 1:1 – 10  (KJV)

Jer 1:1  The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:
Jer 1:2  To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.
Jer 1:3  It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.
Jer 1:4  Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Jer 1:5  Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Jer 1:6  Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
Jer 1:7  But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
Jer 1:8  Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.
Jer 1:9  Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
Jer 1:10  See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

New Testament Scripture Reading: Romans 8:18 – 28  (KJV)

Rom 8:18  For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Rom 8:19  For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
Rom 8:20  For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
Rom 8:21  Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
Rom 8:22  For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
Rom 8:23  And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
Rom 8:24  For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
Rom 8:25  But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
Rom 8:26  Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Rom 8:27  And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Rom 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Rom 8:29  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Rom 8:30  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
Rom 8:31  What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Transforming Power Statements:

1) There are no insignificant matters concerning our lives from God’s perspective, not even trials, difficulties, tragedies, or other negative actions, although we tend not to regard the dark side of our lives as anything pleasant and many times we feel somewhat forsaken at times of this sort, while God Who is sovereign, has promised not only to prune and chastise us but also to never leave nor forsake us.

2) One of the key things we come to learn as being a true disciple of Christ is how to manage all the events taking place in our lives, whether good, bad or even ugly in a manner that gives glory to God, which is truly the manner Jesus our Savior managed His life in the flesh as He secured the victory for all people who place their trust in His finished work.

3) The commitment of Jesus is the model we must always behold as we go through everything in this life understanding that Jesus has stated that in this life we shall have tribulation along with the statement that regardless of this fact that we are to be of good cheer because He has overcome the world and our faith even when things get deep is the victory which will secure us through all things!
