Happy Palm Sunday! As we celebrate another Palm Sunday, the celebration of the time when God’s Son the Messiah was superficially received by the Jews a week before their choosing crucifixion for Him instead, our teacher Pastor Landis Fisher takes a brief pause in our ongoing study through Paul’s letter to the Romans, to preach a special topical message which he has titled: “Jesus Did It All For You”
Old Testament Scripture Reading: Zechariah 9:8 – 10 (NASB)
Zec 9:8 But I will camp around My house because of an army, Because of him who passes by and returns; And no oppressor will pass over them anymore, For now I have seen with My eyes.
Zec 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Zec 9:10 I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim And the horse from Jerusalem; And the bow of war will be cut off. And He will speak peace to the nations; And His dominion will be from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth.
New Testament Scripture Reading: John 1:1 – 12 (KJV)
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Joh 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Joh 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
Joh 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
Joh 1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
Joh 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Joh 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Joh 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Transforming Power Statements:
1) What is known as the “First Advent of the Christ” is marked out by the calendar as 2015 years since the birth of Jesus Christ, God’s Only Begotten Son, and is the very most important event that has taken place in human history thus far; because it marks the time in redemptive history when the prophecies of the Old Testament stating His rejection by Israel (except the remnant) and his subsequent reception of the Gentiles came to pass initiating the Church Age.
2) John characterizes these facts writing that “He (Jesus) came unto His own; but His own received Him not; but to as many as received Him, to them gave He the authority to become the sons of God, meaning that all people; Jew or Gentile now have equal access to be saved by God’s Grace through a relationship with Jesus Christ His Son.
3) From the Triumphal Entry until this very day, there has been a judicial blindness imposed upon Israel as a nation that they are still in rejection of their Messiah, but the Scriptures predict that there is coming a day when Jesus the Christ shall be again accepted, by Israel; but in the meantime all should know that Jesus Did it all for YOU! Receive Him right Now!!
