Jesus Christ: The Essence of ChristmasGreetings and Merry Christmas to all!

What comes to mind when you think of Christmas? Is there any confusion or distress of mind about any material thing? If so, listen in as Pastor Landis Fisher teaches a lesson today which he has called: Jesus Christ: The Essence of Christmas.

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 31:10  (KJV)
Jer 31:10  Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.

Jer 31:11  For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.

Jer 31:12  Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.

Jer 31:13  Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

Jer 31:14  And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.

New Testament Scripture Reading: Luke 2:1 – 14  (KJV)
Luke 2:1  And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.

Luke 2:2  (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

Luke 2:3  And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

Luke 2:4  And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

Luke 2:5  To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

Luke 2:6  And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

Luke 2:7  And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Luke 2:8  And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

Luke 2:9  And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

Luke 2:10  And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

Luke 2:11  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

Luke 2:12  And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

Luke 2:13  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

Luke 2:14  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Transforming Power Statements:

1)     When God had allowed mankind (Gentiles) to go their own way after the fall of Adam, He then established the covenant people, Israel, through the promise to Abraham to sanctify a people for His own possession, and to initiate a course of salvation through the seed of Abraham, which culminated in the person of Jesus Christ after 42 generations.

2)     Christmas is the day man has established to recognize Messiah (Jesus Christ) but has allowed tradition and secularism to cloud the vast, limitless reality of the utter profundity of the object and meaning of the celebration.

3)     When a person has a proper knowledge of the first advent Christ Jesus, and realizes where they stand with regard to what God has given through the death burial and resurrection of His Son, the power of God is then available to form the miraculous within the life of the believer.
