In a previous message called “Walking With Jesus God’s Promised Messiah” we learned to trust the Bible which has perfectly and accurately presented that Jesus Christ is LORD. In today’s message we shall learn that even though we see the world progressing in many ways; people are still about the same as unbelieving Israel, and that we all need to be “Guided By Faith In Jesus Christ Through The Challenges Of Life”
Old Testament Scripture Reading Isaiah 6:1 – 10 (KJV)
Isa 6:1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
Isa 6:2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
Isa 6:3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
Isa 6:4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
Isa 6:5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
Isa 6:6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
Isa 6:7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
Isa 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Isa 6:9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
Isa 6:10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
New Testament Scripture Reading: Acts 28:17 – 28 (KJV)
Act 28:17 And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.
Act 28:18 Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me.
Act 28:19 But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.
Act 28:20 For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.
Act 28:21 And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.
Act 28:22 But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.
Act 28:23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.
Act 28:24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.
Act 28:25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,
Act 28:26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:
Act 28:27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Act 28:28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.
Transforming Power Statements:
1) As we can see, through the history of Israel, even under one of the “better Kings” the people of God were disconnected from God, by choosing not to acknowledge God’s Word, nor His commandments to a point that they were not able to be in sync with God’s Word, nor His plans; so mostly, they operated on what was “popular” rather than What thus saith the LORD.
2) Although Isaiah the Prophet realized that he was “undone” and was willing to admit it; after his experience of the forgiveness of God, he was willing to go out and testify to the obstinate people of God from the small to the great, that they should believe in God’s policies through faith in His Word!
3) The Apostle Paul was found in similar circumstances as he was arrested in the custody of the Roman Gentiles, who were in charge of both Jews and Gentiles at that time, as he was dealing with unbelieving Israel who had not only also disobeyed the Bible, but also had crucified Jesus their Messiah (as it had been written) and even though Christ had risen from the dead, they refused to believe the Gospel.
