Old Testament Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 8:1 – 10 (NASB) |
|
Deu 8:1 “All the commandments that I am commanding you today you shall be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to give to your forefathers.
Deu 8:2 “You shall remember all the way which the LORD your God has led you in the wilderness these forty years, that He might humble you, testing you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.
Deu 8:3 “He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD.
Deu 8:4 “Your clothing did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years.
Deu 8:5 “Thus you are to know in your heart that the LORD your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son.
Deu 8:6 “Therefore, you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him.
Deu 8:7 “For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing forth in valleys and hills;
Deu 8:8 a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey;
Deu 8:9 a land where you will eat food without scarcity, in which you will not lack anything; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you can dig copper.
Deu 8:10 “When you have eaten and are satisfied, you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which He has given you.

New Testament Scripture Reading: 2 Peter3:1 – 12 (NASB) |
|
2Pe 3:1 This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder,
2Pe 3:2 that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles.
2Pe 3:3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts,
2Pe 3:4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.”
2Pe 3:5 For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water,
2Pe 3:6 through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water.
2Pe 3:7 But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
2Pe 3:8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.
2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
2Pe 3:11 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,
2Pe 3:12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!

Transforming Power Statements:
1) Seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness is the first order of business for everyone; however, to remain on the correct path it is needful to set our position and direction on the path to Heaven; therefore, it is required that we learn the Word of God; so that we can agree with it and apply it to our lives so that we are heading towards the direction not away from it.
2) It is the glory of God and His works that must be at the center of all the things we do and involve ourselves in rather than the empty pursuits of the world and the things of this life.
3) The more we learn about the Word of God (Which is the only credible source of the TRUTH) the more Christ-like we can become as we are escalated more into His image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the LORD.
