Elected For Service

Elected For ServiceOne of the most contesed and misunderstood teachings in the Church today is the doctrine of predestination or the doctrine of election, eventhough it is very clearly taught in many ways in the Bible. Why is this a problem for many?What are the implications of this doctrine if it is truly present in the Word of God and how should we respond to it? Listen to this message prepared for you by our teacher, Pastor Landis Fisher, from the 9th chapter of Romans which he has titled: “Elected For Service”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Malachi 1:1 – 6  (KJV)

Mal 1:1  The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi.

Mal 1:2  I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob’s brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,

Mal 1:3  And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

Mal 1:4  Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever.

Mal 1:5  And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The LORD will be magnified from the border of Israel.

Mal 1:6  A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?

New Testament Scripture Reading: Romans 9:9 – 13  (KJV)

Rom 9:9  For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a son.
Rom 9:10  And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
Rom 9:11  (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
Rom 9:12  It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
Rom 9:13  As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

Transforming Power Statements:

1) The Bible clearly teaches the doctrine of “predestination” or Election, but there are many who do not wish not to accept it and the arguing goes on and on in various denominations.

2) Understanding the doctrine of election is comforting to the believer and exalts God and not man, giving all the glory to God!

3) When you really realize that God has loved and called you, and that you have been “Elected For Service” to HIM;  then you can have the peace that passes all understanding!
