Developing Gospel IntentionsGreetings and welcome to this week’s lesson.

Living in a “Secular” world and even in a sometimes “Carnal” atmosphere with in the local churches, it is in many cases most difficult to discern the best of habits required in becoming more “Christ-Like’ . Even within our own homes there are numerous obstacles to the daunting task of being holy and applying ourselves to righteousness as taught in the Word.

Just how then can we tackle such an ominous task and not be threatened with spiritual insecurities that are exacerbated by the devil and many times even our very own consciences? Listen in as Pastor Landis Fisher is teaching a lesson on this crucial topic From The Pulpit of The Saint Timothy M.B.C. which he has titled: “Developing Gospel Intentions” “When all odds seem against you”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 4:1 – 8  (KJV)
Deu 4:1  Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.
Deu 4:2  Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
Deu 4:3  Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you.
Deu 4:4  But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day.
Deu 4:5  Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.
Deu 4:6  Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
Deu 4:7  For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
Deu 4:8  And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
New Testament Scripture Reading: Colosians 3:1 – 10  (KJV)
Col 3:1  If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Col 3:2  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Col 3:3  For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

Col 3:4  When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Col 3:5  Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

Col 3:6  For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

Col 3:7  In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

Col 3:8  But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Col 3:9  Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

Col 3:10  And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Transforming Power Statements:

1) Intentions that are left undone easily become lies, therefore, we must strive to yield to the Holy Spirit and the Word of God by observation of true self-evaluation each day and especially before Communion, knowing that focused prayer is a most powerful thing.

2) Building good spiritual relations within the body of the local Church and with the greater body of Christ, can also bring tremendous power into the process of pressing our spirituality to the fullest measure.

3) We must always abide in the “Biblical View” of what is really so, no matter how diverse and out of sync with the trends of the fallen world that way may seem to be; thereby treasuring the realities of what God has promised, regardless of how it may seem in the present.
