In our present world there are many ways of thinking that are contrary to the teachings of Jesus Christ, Who ALONE defeated death and rose from the dead, which validates EVERYTHING he said above all others who remain in the grave awaiting judgment. With this said, let us hear a message from our Pastor Teacher, Landis Fisher addressing the stance required for modern believers as we face the fallen philosophies of death held and proclaimed by all rejecters of the TRUTH in a message he has titled: “Courage of the TRUTH”
Old Testament Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 4:1 – 9 (KJV)
Deu 4:1 Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.
Deu 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
Deu 4:3 Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you.
Deu 4:4 But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day.
Deu 4:5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.
Deu 4:6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
Deu 4:7 For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
Deu 4:8 And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
New Testament Scripture Reading: Colossians 2:1 – 10 (KJV)
Col 2:1 For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
Col 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
Col 2:3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Col 2:4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
Col 2:5 For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
Col 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
Col 2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Col 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Col 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
Transforming Power Statements:
1) Living in a world which has many differing beliefs is always a challenge, and has been so every since man has been on the earth; there has always been a choice to either believe the TRUTH or not; and every generation has had to select which they will live by; although it has become increasingly more difficult in our time due to the great escalation of wicked practices and the ability of man to spread it through mass communications.
2) The Israelites were commanded to stick very close to the things that God taught them through Moses so that the surrounding stain of the toxic doctrines of the unbelieving nations would not negatively affect them; but on the other hand, their behaviors from walking in the TRUTH would have the effect of drawing unbelievers to come to learn and love the TRUTH instead of living according to the world.
3) As we proceed in this life, we can be assured that there shall be many evil doctrines against the simplicity of the Gospel, but we must rest assured that the Bible teaches that we are complete in Christ and this will be the most attacked doctrine as we see the world going deeper into wickedness, especially among ‘religionist’ but also among entrenched in the lusts of the flesh which are being flaunted just as they were in the days of Noah.
