Anticipation of ChristWhat are the effects of our expectations in life? Could there be a connection between “faith and “Expectations” which affects our walk with God and even provide confidence in situations when it seems that the present circumstances are out of sync with what we are looking for from Almighty God according to all that He has promised? Well, you won’t want to miss a word of our teaching today, as our Pastor Teacher, Landis Fisher sets forth a message expounding this crucial topic as an opening message for this year’s celebration of the Christmas Season which he has titled: “Anticipation of Christ”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Isaiah 11:1 – 9  (KJV)
Isa 11:1  And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

Isa 11:2  And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

Isa 11:3  And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

Isa 11:4  But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

Isa 11:5  And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

Isa 11:6  The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

Isa 11:7  And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

Isa 11:8  And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den.

Isa 11:9  They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

New Testament Scripture Reading: Matthew 24:1 – 14  (KJV)
Mat 24:1  And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to show him the buildings of the temple.

Mat 24:2  And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

Mat 24:3  And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Mat 24:4  And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

Mat 24:5  For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Mat 24:6  And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

Mat 24:7  For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

Mat 24:8  All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Mat 24:9  Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

Mat 24:10  And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

Mat 24:11  And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

Mat 24:12  And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Mat 24:13  But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Mat 24:14  And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Transforming Power Statements”

1)     In Old Testament times, there was an anticipation of Christmas celebration which looked forward to the coming of the Christ among true believers, since such a promise had been given by God as soon as sin had entered the world. Christ was being sought for as the one who was to reverse the curse, and ends it’s penalty i.e.  death) and deliver redemption to those who were believers in God by faith.

2)     Every believer should be living in expectation of the internal work of the Holy Spirit, Who is performing His divine purpose in the lives of all possessors of  true salvation by faith in Jesus Christ alone, as He provides conviction, comfort, spiritual education, illumination, restoration, and every other internal manifestation of Christ in each believing heart.

3)     The Church must continue to sound the trumpet while waiting for That final return which is scheduled for an unknown sudden eruption into the Earth realm, which God has promised to be the ushering in of the most glorious season of  all time when the Earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea
