With the increase in carnality that the world is producing in more and more greater proportions day by day, it becomes increasingly more difficult for those who are saved to maintain their personal holiness as is fitting for those who are the recipients of free and complete salvation given to them by faith in Christ Jesus, God’s only begotten Son, unless they come to learn the secret made available to them through the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.
Listen in as Pastor Landis Fisher teaches a lesson on how we may apply spiritual precepts to our lives on a daily basis in a message he has titled: “Acquiring the Mind of Messiah”
Old Testament Scripture Reading: Psalms 1:1 – 6 (KJV)
Psa 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Psa 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Psa 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Psa 1:4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
Psa 1:5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
Psa 1:6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
New Testament Scripture Reading: Phillipians 2:5 – 16 (KJV)
Phil 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Phil 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Phil 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Phil 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Phil 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Phil 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Phil 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Phil 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Phil 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Phil 2:14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
Phil 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Phil 2:16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
Transforming Power Statements:
1) It is the prophecy of way of the world to work in opposition to God and His Son, which shall ultimately lead to their destruction, which shall be caused by pride and the illusion of self-sufficiency apart from reliance upon God and His provision of Jesus Christ.
2) It is extremely difficult to keep ones self unspotted by the world unless we continually meditate in the Law of the LORD day and night in order for us to be able as believers to acquire the mind of Christ and therefore, resist temptation.
3) Possessing the mind of Christ is a growth process derived from Scripture, prayer, and fellowship with like-minded saints who also have the same struggles in remaining pure so that we together may shine as lights in the midst of a crooked and perverse culture, so that the true God might be glorified Who has given His Son to make all this possible.
