Abiding PeaceWe are living in what the Apostle Paul refered to as “Perilous times”; therefore, there are often times when our sense of peace is violated by our environment and the activities of our daily lives. Listen and learn the biblical answers to learning to live in Abiding Peace in every situation.

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Zechariah 12:1 – 10  (NASB)
Zec 12:1  The burden of the word of the LORD concerning Israel. Thus declares the LORD who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him,
Zec 12:2  “Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah.
Zec 12:3  “And it will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.
Zec 12:4  “In that day,” declares the LORD, “I will strike every horse with bewilderment, and his rider with madness. But I will watch over the house of Judah, while I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness.
Zec 12:5  “Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘A strong support for us are the inhabitants of Jerusalem through the LORD of hosts, their God.’
Zec 12:6  “In that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot among pieces of wood and a flaming torch among sheaves, so they will consume on the right hand and on the left all the surrounding peoples, while the inhabitants of Jerusalem again dwell on their own sites in Jerusalem.
Zec 12:7  “The LORD also will save the tents of Judah first in order that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem may not be magnified above Judah.
Zec 12:8  “In that day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the one who is feeble among them in that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the LORD before them.
Zec 12:9  “And it will come about in that day that I will set about to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
Zec 12:10  “And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him, like the bitter weeping over a first-born.
New Testament Scripture Reading: John 14:25 – 31  (NASB)
John 14:25  “These things I have spoken to you, while abiding with you.
John 14:26  “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
John 14:27  “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
John 14:28  “You heard that I said to you, ‘I go away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced, because I go to the Father; for the Father is greater than I.
John 14:29  “And now I have told you before it comes to pass, that when it comes to pass, you may believe.
John 14:30  “I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me;
John 14:31  but that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go from here.
Transforming Power Statements:

#1) Since it is true that peace from the worlds view is not the same as from a biblical view, we must learn to secure peace for ourselves from the proper source which is from God through His Only-begotten Son Jesus the Christ.

#2) According to the world, peace is commonly defined as an absence of war or turmoil. Nevertheless, true and abiding peace comes only from a personal relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ.

#3) The peace of God is an enduring peace unlike and beyond anything that could be obtained through any possible thing obtained in the physical world and should be shared with everyone: this is the essence of the message of the gospel of Christ, which is the gospel of peace.
