A Sign To Be Opposed

For the celebration of the first Advent of the Christ and the Christmas season, Pastor: Landis is teaching a special series on the celebration of the eternal gospel of God and its impact on the world. Listen in to these special messages and learn some of the beauties of God’s excellent love for you and His plan for the salvation of all who believe. (Merry CHRISTMAS!!)

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 33:15 – 22  (NASB)
Jer 33:15  ‘In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch of David to spring forth; and He shall execute justice and righteousness on the earth.

Jer 33:16  ‘In those days Judah shall be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell in safety; and this is the name by which she shall be called: the LORD is our righteousness.’

Jer 33:17  “For thus says the LORD, ‘David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;

Jer 33:18  and the Levitical priests shall never lack a man before Me to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings, and to prepare sacrifices continually.'”

Jer 33:19  And the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying,

Jer 33:20  “Thus says the LORD, ‘If you can break My covenant for the day, and My covenant for the night, so that day and night will not be at their appointed time,

Jer 33:21  then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levitical priests, My ministers.

Jer 33:22  ‘As the host of heaven cannot be counted, and the sand of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the descendants of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me.'”

New Testament Scripture Reading: Luke 2:15 – 35  (NASB)
Luke 2:25  And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

Luke 2:26  And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.Luke 2:27  And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to carry out for Him the custom of the Law,

Luke 2:28  then he took Him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,

Luke 2:29  “Now Lord, Thou dost let Thy bond-servant depart In peace, according to Thy word;

Luke 2:30  For my eyes have seen Thy salvation,

Luke 2:31  Which Thou hast prepared in the presence of all peoples,

Luke 2:32  A LIGHT OF REVELATION TO THE GENTILES, And the glory of Thy people Israel.”

Luke 2:33  And His father and mother were amazed at the things which were being said about Him.

Luke 2:34  And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign to be opposed–

Luke 2:35  and a sword will pierce even your own soul– to the end that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.”

Transforming Power Statements:

#1) Resistance to God has been increasing every since the fall of satan and Adam, and shall be on the rise in greater measure as time winds down, and Messiah, Jesus will increasingly become the focal point of this evil tendency, culminating in the rise and reign of antichrist the deceiver of the whole fallen world.

#2) Yet God has already fulfilled His promises to provide everything that is due (in its course of time according to His Word) all of which hinge upon the most excellent work of Jesus and has been proven to be effective to the ones who believe the age-old gospel.

#3) The prophecy of Simeon spoken on the eighth day of the life of Jesus is being fulfilled right before our eyes as a sign of the truthfulness of God’s Word; and as an emblem of the curse upon those who do not embrace the gospel of God concerning His Only Begotten SON!
