Living Life As A Work Of GodStraight Gate Ministries PO Box 10123 St. Louis, MO 63145-9998
As we continue our study in the epistle of first Peter, Pastor: Landis explains some important facts about how Christians should live in the light of the word God is teaching with respect to His calling and choosing us for salvation. So, buckle up your seat belts and come along for a journey into eternity past to glean some weapons of righteousness as we learn how we are to be: “Living Life As A Work Of God”
Old Testament Scripture Reading: Amos 3:1 – 7 (NASB)
Amos 3:1 Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,
Amos 3:2 You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.
Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
Amos 3:4 Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?
Amos 3:5 Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
New Testament Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 1:1 – 5 (NASB)
1 Pet 1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who reside as aliens, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen
1 Pet 1:2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, that you may obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be yours in fullest measure.
1 Pet 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 1 Pet 1:4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 1 Pet 1:5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Transforming Power Statements:
#1) The term: “Foreknowledge” is one of intaimacy. It is used to speak of a “Love Relationship” between God and His chosen.
#2) Our entire life therefore, must be viewed as a progressive work of redemption from all the forms of sin and wickedness and all of their manifestations so that we see salvation as a project of an understanding and merciful Father who longs for affectionate interaction with the creatures of His own choice for whom He had planned a way to perform His love toward them and to ultimately deliver them all into His perfection and glory by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
#3) AS we deepen our gaze into the deep things of God revealed in His Holy Word, we can increasingly more easily behold the glories of His plans for the righteous and be transformed from glory to glory and from faith to faith which become for us powerful weapons against sin, satan, and death to aid us as we walk through life in this world.
