Setting Your Focus on Christ

God’s Law is a beautiful thing in immeasurable ways, and has been the main reason that mankind has not yet entered into total destruction. Listen in to Pastor Fisher’s message today, which is a follow up from last week’s message. Please listen prayerfully to the message he has titled: “Setting Your Focus on Christ”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Leviticus 19:1 – 8  (KJV)

Lev 19:1  And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Lev 19:2  Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.
Lev 19:3  Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.
Lev 19:4  Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God.
Lev 19:5  And if ye offer a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD, ye shall offer it at your own will.
Lev 19:6  It shall be eaten the same day ye offer it, and on the morrow: and if ought remain until the third day, it shall be burnt in the fire.
Lev 19:7  And if it be eaten at all on the third day, it is abominable; it shall not be accepted.
Lev 19:8  Therefore every one that eateth it shall bear his iniquity, because he hath profaned the hallowed thing of the LORD: and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

New Testament Scripture Reading: 2Peter 2:1 – 8  (KJV)

2Pe 2:1  But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2Pe 2:2  And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
2Pe 2:3  And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
2Pe 2:4  For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
2Pe 2:5  And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
2Pe 2:6  And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
2Pe 2:7  And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
2Pe 2:8  (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

Transforming Power Statements:

1) God’s preferred method of teaching godliness to the next generation is through the parents first and then through sanctified teachers, in order to maintain a godliness within the culture for the benefit of everyone in general.

2) God has always desired that the ones who worship Him, do so voluntarily and not under compulsion, so that He is worshiped from the heart, not out of duty nor of necessity, so that real love will be the motive behind it.

3) The negative impact of false teachers in history can be seen in the Word, and reminder is given by the Apostle Peter, to make believers aware of how those who were misled in times past were the ones who also departed from godly principle and allowed themselves to go the way of the flesh unto destruction; rather than embracing the mercies of God unto salvation by faith.
