Believing Is Seeing

Greetings and welcome to teachingbible.org. There is a phrase commonly used in the world among people that goes: “Seeing is believing”. To get your new year off to a good start, listen in as our Pastor / Teacher Landis Fisher delivers a timely message to the congregation of the New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church, where Rev. Carl S. Smith Sr. is Pastor. This is an eye opening message from St. Paul’s writings to the Corinthian saints, from 2 Corinthians fourth chapter, that Pastor Fisher has titled: “Believing is Seeing”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Isaiah 42:1 – 9  (KJV)
Isa 42:1  Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.Isa 42:2  He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.Isa 42:3  A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.Isa 42:4  He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.Isa 42:5  Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:Isa 42:6  I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;Isa 42:7  To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.Isa 42:8  I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.Isa 42:9  Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.
New Testament Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:1 – 7  (KJV)
2 Cor 4:1  Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;2 Cor 4:2  But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.2 Cor 4:3  But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:2 Cor 4:4  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.2 Cor 4:5  For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.2 Cor 4:6  For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.2 Cor 4:7  But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
Transforming Power Statements: 1) The fallen physical world upholds a convincing illusion that material things are all that exist, which supports many who fail to believe that God exists, and that He loves the creation that He designed, which causes people in general to say “Seeing is believing”  2) Nevertheless, God does exist, and does love mankind and knows exactly what man needs to be complete and fulfilled in the fallen world, and at the same time God also knows exactly what He requires to cleanse man from the multitude of his sins, and therefore, has provided His Son Jesus Christ to make that provision for all who believe the Gospel. 3) The things of God are seemingly cloaked in mystery and, therefore require an unveiling that only God Himself can apply to the human heart known as “Being Born Again” this is why just the opposite of what man thinks is true: “Believing is Seeing”
