The Quest of the Holy Spirit
|
Old Testament Scripture Reading: Isaiah 63:7 – 16 (NASB) |
|
Isa 63:7 I shall make mention of the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, the praises of the LORD, According to all that the LORD has granted us, And the great goodness toward the house of Israel, Which He has granted them according to His compassion, And according to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses.
Isa 63:8 For He said, “Surely, they are My people, Sons who will not deal falsely.” So He became their Savior.
Isa 63:9 In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the angel of His presence saved them; In His love and in His mercy He redeemed them; And He lifted them and carried them all the days of old.
Isa 63:10 But they rebelled And grieved His Holy Spirit; Therefore, He turned Himself to become their enemy, He fought against them.
Isa 63:11 Then His people remembered the days of old, of Moses. Where is He who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of His flock? Where is He who put His Holy Spirit in the midst of them,
Isa 63:12 Who caused His glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses, Who divided the waters before them to make for Himself an everlasting name,
Isa 63:13 Who led them through the depths? Like the horse in the wilderness, they did not stumble;
Isa 63:14 As the cattle which go down into the valley, The Spirit of the LORD gave them rest. So didst Thou lead Thy people, To make for Thyself a glorious name.
Isa 63:15 Look down from heaven, and see from Thy holy and glorious habitation; Where are Thy zeal and Thy mighty deeds? The stirrings of Thy heart and Thy compassion are restrained toward me.
Isa 63:16 For Thou art our Father, though Abraham does not know us, And Israel does not recognize us. Thou, O LORD, art our Father, Our Redeemer from of old is Thy name. |

New Testament Scripture Reading: Romans 8:18 – 28 (NASB) |
|
Rom 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
Rom 8:19 For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.
Rom 8:20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope
Rom 8:21 that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.
Rom 8:22 For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.
Rom 8:23 And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.
Rom 8:24 For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one also hope for what he sees?
Rom 8:25 But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.
Rom 8:26 And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;
Rom 8:27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. |

Point #1) The Holy Spirit being the third person of the God=Head is often misunderstood although He is God. He is a person who operates in a mystical manner in full harmony with the Father and the Son.
Point #2) Since the ministry of the Spirit is mystical, the Holy Spirit has more to do with operations from God to the human family than are imagined by most.
Point #3) The Holy Spirit has a “Quest” or a “Mission” to fulfill which began in eternity and will continue into eternity that has much to do with the salvation of believers in Jesus Christ. The Holy Bible, which is authored by the Holy Spirit is the decree of this “Quest / Mission” and is revealed to all who trust in Jesus the Christ. |
