Old Testament Scripture Reading: Proverbs 6:16 – 19 (KJV)
Pro 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
Pro 6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
Pro 6:18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
Pro 6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
New Testament Scripture Reading: John 1:6 – 14 (KJV)
Joh 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
Joh 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
Joh 1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
Joh 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Joh 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Joh 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Joh 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Transforming Power Statements:
1) The Bible gives us the ability to discern the things that are both good and bad in the sight of God so that as we apply its teachings to ourselves, we can set our actions, thoughts, and plans is an acceptable direction according to what God has revealed through Scripture, as a vehicle for understanding both good and evil, and as a compass to direct us toward Christ-likeness.
2) The Love of God for all people, which was marred by the sin of Adam, must be understood with regard to the Holiness of God, which brings a reality that since sin is the “opposite” of “True Love”; that there must be a tolerance of things in mankind as a result of sin, that God hates, as stated by King Solomon, which are written to God’s chosen believers, as a road-map leading the believer away from the direction against God; and rather in the right direction toward Him; and this pursuit is the aim of discipleship, which is the “Acquisition Of A Christ-like Disposition”.
3) John the Apostle, reveals that Jesus Christ, God’s Only Begotten Son is the creator of all things and the “Redeemer” of all things, Who came to His own and was rejected, crucified, buried, and risen from the grave to teach all people that He alone has provided God’s Love to give everyone who believes in Him total victory over not only this life, but also over death, the grave and all the enemies of God who reject discipleship, which is “Acquisition Of A Christ-like Disposition”
