What has changed in our culture that has caused so much strife and turmoil which is on the rise from day to day? It seems like there is no limit to disagreement and that there is an overall trend away from godliness and truth heading into a culture of complete lawlessness. I believe it can be answered by the underlying reason that people in modern cultures even as  it has been ever since Adam’s choice to sin against God’s command, that deep within all people there is a drive that we could call: “Unmitigated Autonomy The Central Drive Of The Fallen Soul”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Ecclesiastes 12:11 – 14 / Psalms 111:1 – 10 (KJV)

Ecc 12:11  The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

Ecc 12:12  And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

Ecc 12:13  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Ecc 12:14  For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

———————————————————————————————————————————–

Psa 111:1  Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.

Psa 111:2  The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.

Psa 111:3  His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever.

Psa 111:4  He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.

Psa 111:5  He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.

Psa 111:6  He hath shewed his people the power of his works, that he may give them the heritage of the heathen.

Psa 111:7  The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure.

Psa 111:8  They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.

Psa 111:9  He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.

Psa 111:10  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

New Testament Scripture Reading: 2Thessalonians 1:1 – 12 (KJV)

2Th 2:1  Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2Th 2:2  That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

2Th 2:3  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

2Th 2:4  Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

2Th 2:5  Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

2Th 2:6  And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

2Th 2:7  For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

2Th 2:8  And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

2Th 2:9  Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

2Th 2:10  And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

2Th 2:11  And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

2Th 2:12  That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Transforming Power Statements:

1) King Solomon ( The anointed son of David through Bathsheba who had been the wife of Uriah the Hittite) in his vast wisdom concludes that the word of God our Creator and Savior should be carefully studied and adhered to because it is the whole duty of man who will be judged according to the righteous standards of the Almighty,  as He has written.

2) The Psalmist extols the majesties of the Almighty Who has given to all the record of His commandments, which when loved and obeyed, bring about the best possible conditions for all people, however, the many who choose to disregard His Commandments, remain in the category of the heathen, who continue to be in pursuit of unmitigated autonomy which is the evil human drive that will culminate in the rise of the Anti-Christ who will deceive the entire world of unbelievers,

3) God throughout all ages has provided a way of salvation for all people, which is based on having faith in Him and the word that He has given, which is the lifeline which has divided all of humanity into two basic groups: Believers and Unbelievers and it is God’s desire that all people everywhere would repent and turn to Him and His Salvation and be saved!
