As human beings we have various ways of getting our point across to others. Especially when we are passionate about a particular subject we want to convey to others. We use many vehicles of speech such as idioms, hyperbole, paradox, metaphor, parable, and on and on. These literary devices add expression and weight to what point we are trying to make, so that the hearers understand what we mean more clearly, and to amplify and express deep concern or emotion on a topic to, as it were , drive home the expression we desire for the hearers to know.
With this in mind, let’s have a look into the Word of God and meditate on what is God expressing to us in the Bible as we examine what are the “Expressions Of The Blood Of Jesus”
Old Testament Scripture Reading: Leviticus 17:11 – 14 (NASB)
Lev 17:11 ‘For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.’
Lev 17:12 “Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, ‘No person among you may eat blood, nor may any alien who sojourns among you eat blood.’
Lev 17:13 “So when any man from the sons of Israel, or from the aliens who sojourn among them, in hunting catches a beast or a bird which may be eaten, he shall pour out its blood and cover it with earth.
Lev 17:14 “For as for the life of all flesh, its blood is identified with its life. Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, ‘You are not to eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off.’
New Testament Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:23 – 29 (KJV)
1Co 11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
1Co 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
1Co 11:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
1Co 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.
1Co 11:27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
1Co 11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
1Co 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
Transforming Power Statements:
1) The seriousness of blood to everything living indicates that there can be no more important topic, because the outcome of this expression is a matter of life or death.
2) The shedding of the blood of Jesus reveals the darkest, most ugliest assault of mankind against the person and authority of The Almighty God, and is the greatest travesty human government and fallen people have ever committed in the history of the world.
3) The blood of Jesus reveals the ultimate magnitude of God’s love for evil sinners that could only be purged by the innocent blood of the ONLY PERFECT SINLESS MAN, JESUS CHRIST, as revealed in so many Bible passages, like:
4) The blood of Jesus toward those who continue to reject this MOST LOUD Expression of God’s willingness to forgive evil sinners, shall evoke the greatest eternal blast of wrath known as HELL FIRE and Brimstone which shall speak forever in the expression of ETERNAL WRATH AND WELL DESERVED ENDLESS FURY from God Almighty!
Heb 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
Heb 10:30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
Heb 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Heb 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Heb 10:13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Heb 10:15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
Heb 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
