What Is Christmas According To The Bible

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Psalms 2:7 -8 (KJV)

Psa 2:7  I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Psa 2:8  Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

New Testament Scripture Reading: Hebrews 10:1 – 7 (KJV)

Heb 10:1  For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

Heb 10:2  For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

Heb 10:3  But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.

Heb 10:4  For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

Heb 10:5  Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

Heb 10:6  In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

Heb 10:7  Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

Transforming Power Statements:

1) As we prepare again to celebrate the birth of Jesus, The Messiah, let us consider the facts, not of things that the world has associated with the season, but what God has said in His Holy Word, The Bible; that gives us the true reason for the season and facts that we can delight in now and forever more.

2) The first Christmas is prophesied in Psalms 2:7 where the birth of God’s Only-Begotten Son and the purpose / destiny of the Son are written in just a few simple words which indicate the primary purpose for which Jesus was born as the ultimate ruler and authority over all the kings of the earth.

3) So as we come to this year’s Christmas celebration, let us think on what it really is according to what the Bible says it is; then and from now on we can have that true peace that passes all understanding and also never fret nor fear about the things that the world does rather than believing what God has said.
