Living Within the Strong Tower

Pastor Landis Fisher continues our study on marriage & Family as we approach the celebration of Independence Day in the United States. Listen to this installment which instructs how to have real independence in this message which he has titled: “Living Within the Strong Tower”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Proverbs 18:10 – 13  (KJV)

Pro 18:10  The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
Pro 18:11  The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.
Pro 18:12  Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.
Pro 18:13  He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

New Testament Scripture Reading: Romans 8:1 – 9  (KJV)

Rom 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Rom 8:2  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Rom 8:3  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Rom 8:4  That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Rom 8:5  For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Rom 8:6  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Rom 8:7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Rom 8:8  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Rom 8:9  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Transforming Power Statements:

1) Every saved individual must pray to keep within the forefront of their mind the fact that since they have chosen to believe the Gospel, they are granted access to God who is the strong tower to protect all who trust in Him.

2) While many are trusting in “things” they possess rather than God Who is the source of all blessing, let us select the attitude of setting our minds on being in the strong tower which is our fortress especially in times of trouble.

3) The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only true protection against the coming wrath of God and therefore, must be properly understood to provide the ability for individuals to be certain that they can rest inside the Strong Tower knowing that family is at the center of God’s design for humanity.
