Old Testament Scripture Reading: Isaiah 38:1 – 6 (KJV) |
|
Isa 38:1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.
Isa 38:2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD,
Isa 38:3 And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
Isa 38:4 Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying,
Isa 38:5 Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.
Isa 38:6 And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city.

New Testament Scripture Reading: Colossians 3:16 – 21 (KJV) |
|
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Col 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Col 3:18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
Col 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
Col 3:20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
Col 3:21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

Transforming Power Statements:
1) When the prophet Isaiah delivered prophecy from God to King Hezekiah it immediately provoked a change in his choice of what was most important for him to do that perhaps he had neglected before, but now had become a higher priority; which was his personal relationship with God through prayer.
2) As believers who are born again through the revelation of the prophecy which God has issued out to all the world, known as the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we who are believers have been indwelt by God the Holy Spirit and therefore have been equipped to know even better the will of God even more than any others; but we must by our own freewill select to do what God teaches even against our own desires which are still affected by our fallen nature.
3) Scripture clearly teaches a radically different view of the roles of each member of the family beginning with Wives, Husbands, Children and then again Fathers indicating a standard which we see being attacked more and more every day by unbelievers but we must learn to pray for guidance and choose to do things according to the prophecies revealed to us in God’s holy Word.
