Honoring Motherhood

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers everywhere! Our Pastor Teacher: Landis Fisher takes a break from our study of what the Scriptures teach about giving, to teach this special topical message in honor of the Mother’s Day holiday. Listen as he teaches a message for this special occasion which he has titled: “Honoring Motherhood”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Exodus 20:11 – 12  (KJV)

Exo 20:11  For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Exo 20:12  Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

New Testament Scripture Reading: Ephesians 6:1 – 3  (KJV)

Eph 6:1  Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
Eph 6:2  Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
Eph 6:3  That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Transforming Power Statements:

1) In a similar way to how we are first biologically with our fathers, then spend 9 additional months exclusively with our mothers, our God, even after he had stated that all was done in His creation and He rested; in response to the fact that “it is not good that the man should be alone;” (Genesis 2:18a KJV) brought forth with honor, the reality of motherhood as the solution for this deficiency in Man (Adam); and produced this highly honorable institution known as “Motherhood”.

2) This excerpt from Exodus within the “Book of the Law” states the importance to all people to honor this extremely beautiful biological, emotional, and even spiritual relationship known as motherhood, and is the “first commandment with promise” as stated by the great Apostle Paul in the New Testament, to always be held in highest esteem among people, especially the “Saved”.

3) One of the greatest factors of offering such honor to the very institution of Motherhood as commanded and backed up with a promise of long life upon the earth, is to extend this right attitude regardless of any surrounding circumstances, (good, bad, or ugly) to be grateful to God in that this is His marvelous creation to bless mankind and alleviate loneliness from man, and just for this fact we should all give praise to God and live honoring motherhood!
