As we prepare ourselves for the coming season erroneously called “EASTER” in the King James Version of the Holy Bible; which is referred to accurately in the original tongues of which the Scriptures are translated from “Passover” (PASCHA i.e. Greek) we shall attempt to shed light on a commonly asked question: “Why you need Jesus?” as we listen to this lesson in honor of the true Passover. Listen in to this lesson from our Pastor Teacher, Landis Fisher in a message he has titled: “Why you Need Jesus”
Old Testament Scripture Reading: Isaiah 53:1 – 12 (KJV)
Isa 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
Isa 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
Isa 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Isa 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Isa 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Isa 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
Isa 53:8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
Isa 53:9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
Isa 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
Isa 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Isa 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
New Testament Scripture Reading: Galatians 3:10 – 14 (KJV)
Gal 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
Gal 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
Gal 3:12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
Gal 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Gal 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Transforming Power Statements:
1) When people do not understand the Bible, they do not even realize that they have a problem that can only be fixed by God Himself, and if they are informed about the problem of sin which is breaking any one of God’s Laws, they often times rationalize it by claiming that they keep most of God’s Laws, so therefore, He should still not condemn them, but that He should just consider all the good things they do, rather than judging them for the few things that are wrong.
2) According to the Law & the Prophets, salvation is needed by all people and must be attained as a free gift from God in order for anyone to be declared righteous by God our creator and sustainer, Who desires that all people hear His Gospel (good news) that Jesus Christ His Only Son, has shown up at the proper time and was delivered up to the cross to deliver all who believe in Him from God’s curse, which is death; which Jesus alone received and defeated by His resurrection from the dead.
3) Christ Jesus, Who is our “PASSOVER” gives us perfect fellowship with God Almighty which cannot be attained any other way except by God’s Grace through faith alone; so in response to the question: “Why You Need Jesus? I have briefly offered the explanation Why you need Jesus; because only His sacrifice has satisfied the wrath of God for as many as believe Him.
