Old Testament Scripture Reading: Psalms 78:1 – 6 (KJV) |
|
Psa 78:1 Maschil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
Psa 78:2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
Psa 78:3 Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
Psa 78:4 We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
Psa 78:5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
Psa 78:6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

Transforming Power Statements:
1) Just as the Apostle was in the midst of closing this, one of the most important epistles in Holy Writ, he is compelled to issue one final word of warning, against false teachers, whom he knows are ever present, and an ongoing problem to the Church, which seemingly never ceases.
2) As it always was in time past and as it is even today, false teachers with twisted motives still exist in droves and are hard at work deceiving the multitude, rather than making plain the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret from since the world began, just as the Psalmist Asaph wrote long ago warning the saved in his day to realize that God desires to inform true believers while at the very same time concealing the truth from non-believers.
3) This final benediction summarizes the mission of the Church throughout all of time and accredits the glory of it all to God and His Only-begotten Son Jesus, the Christ; and therefore, this unfolding of the mystery of God is the outcome of all that the Law, the Prophets and the Psalms are about, and that this secret must be spread into all the nations; and this is the mission of the CHURCH!!
