Benefiting From Godly ThinkingThere is a disturbing trend going on in modern Christendom where professing ministers are suggesting that psychology, philosophy, and other self esteem methods are the answer to a spirit-filled life of happiness. Pastor Landis Fisher believes that nothing could be farther from the truth! Listen to our featured message today from our teacher he has called: Benefiting from Godly Thinking”
Old Testament Scripture Reading: Psalms 1:1 – 6 (KJV)
Psa 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Psa 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Psa 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Psa 1:4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
Psa 1:5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
Psa 1:6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
New Testament Scripture Reading: Philippians 1:1 – 6 (KJV)
Phil 1:1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
Phil 1:2 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Phil 1:3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
Phil 1:4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
Phil 1:5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
Phil 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Transforming Power Statements:
1) There are major doctrinal realities that are lost in so many churches these days, such as the doctrines that teach that salvation is fully initiated as well as carried out by God and for His good pleasure, which are the doctrines of election and progressive sanctification for example.
2) It is not at all unusual to hear sound fundamental doctrines that have been foundational in the church from the days of the Apostles and through out the ages that are now being replaced with psychology, philosophy, self-help, self-esteem, and a variety of other equally useless formulas all based on human achievement, rather than on the Word of God which alone is able to instill godliness into all who are fed thereby.
3) In order to attain the best results from being saved, one must realize that there are no short cuts to bypass studying the Word of God, Prayer, & meditation, which are the means that God has chosen for His people to receive the best benefits from Him to those who love Him.
