Remembering The Best Thing In Life

Greetings to all present and online,

This lesson is part two of a previous message began by our teacher, Pastor Landis Fisher, a while back titled: “Remembering That Which Is Most Important” that is available in our online archive for your review. This message was delivered during a worship service at the Dickerson Memorial Community Church, where Pastor Landis Fisher is currently serving as an assistant Pastor.

Our lesson today is a sequel to this message which shall challenge us to stay focused along with God the Holy Spirit as we are being led according to His Word to achieve the goal of eternal salvation as provided by God the Father through the sacrifice of God the Son, our LORD Jesus Christ. So, grab your Bible and listen!

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Psalms 78:1 – 14  (KJV)
Psa 78:1  Maschil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

Psa 78:2  I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

Psa 78:3  Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.

Psa 78:4  We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.

Psa 78:5  For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

Psa 78:6  That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

Psa 78:7  That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:

Psa 78:8  And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.

Psa 78:9  The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.

Psa 78:10  They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;

Psa 78:11  And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had showed them.

Psa 78:12  Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.

Psa 78:13  He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.

Psa 78:14  In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.

New Testament Scripture Reading: Revelation 2:1 – 7  (KJV)
Rev 2:1  Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;

Rev 2:2  I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:

Rev 2:3  And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.

Rev 2:4  Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

Rev 2:5  Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Rev 2:6  But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate.

Rev 2:7  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Transforming Power Statements:

1) God made all things to be good; and very good they were, until Adam chose to sin which provoked the curse against man and started a cycle of deterioration that shall culminate in complete destruction of the existing order of things as we know them, and only those who are redeemed shall occupy God’s new creation.

2) Acknowledgement of God’s Word and adherence to it is the path that leads to life and assurance, whereas neglect, ignorance, forgetfulness, or substitution of the word are the ways of death.

Prov 14:12  There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

3) Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as believers in Jesus Christ, sitting under the rightly divided Word of Truth, and careful social fellowship and accountability is God’s prescription for peace, prosperity, and purpose-driven usefulness in the present, as well as everlasting bliss in eternity with our God.
