The Calling and Duty of the Saints

Greetings to all present and on the internet. Last Lord’s Day we returned to our routine format and set foot into a new study through the excellent book of Romans. Our Pastor: Landis Fisher is very excited about this study and wants to encourage every one not to miss any of the teachings from this series and has said that he is praying for the enrichment of everyone who continues in this compelling study through perhaps one of the most influential letters written by the Apostle Paul, and maybe even in the entire Bible. Last Lord’s day, we heard a message about the calling of Paul the Apostle and learned how we also are sanctified for the gospel. Now listen in today as we continue in the book of Romans with a message called by  Pastor Landis Fisher :The Calling and Duty of the Saints”

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Isaiah 6:1 – 12  (KJV)
Isa 6:1  In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
Isa 6:2  Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
Isa 6:3  And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
Isa 6:4  And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
Isa 6:5  Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
Isa 6:6  Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
Isa 6:7  And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
Isa 6:8  Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Isa 6:9  And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
Isa 6:10  Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
Isa 6:11  Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,
Isa 6:12  And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.
New Testament Scripture Reading: Romans1:1 – 7  (KJV)
Rom 1:7  To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Rom 1:8  First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
Rom 1:9  For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;
Rom 1:10  Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.
Rom 1:11  For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;
Rom 1:12  That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
Transforming Power Statements:

#1) When fallen people are called by God through the gospel and understand and accept God’s call, they are instantly transformed spiritually from a mere sinner to adopted children of God and referred to in Holy Scripture as ‘Saints’.

#2) Prayer heard and accepted by God on behalf of His Son Jesus is among the greatest of the manifold benefits of being a saint and therefore should be applied at all times and for all purposes in order that all things in life may be subjected to our LORD by our faith.

#3) We are a team, and there is enormous benefit in the blending of our prayers and  purposes as we join to engage the fallen world with God’s only message of hope and salvation, while at the same time praying our way through the transitions within ourselves as the Holy Spirit continues to comfort, teach, and adjust us to the Word and will of God.
