What About The Bible

Happy and Holy Thanksgiving to you and your family, from Pastor Fisher, his family, and the members of Straight Gate Ministries and teachingbible.org. It is our prayer that you celebrate the holiday with deepest gratitude to God for all His great provisions which He has poured out richly on us all over this past year! On last Lord’s day, our teacher concluded our most recent study through the entire Gospel of Mark with instructions about some of the controversies existing within the visible church as a result of failure to interpret Scripture with Scripture. Therefore, let us now ask just how important is the Word itself to our spiritual life and evaluation of the world and how we live? Is it optional for believers to embrace the authority of the Bible? Or is it just that the Bible can be loosely used as a reference?

Today, Pastor Fisher shall be dealing with the conflict of interpretation of Scripture and shedding some light on what Jesus said on this most important topic in the message called: “What About The Bible?” So, listen in today as our bible teacher, Pastor Fisher addresses from the Word the biblical position on this extremely important topic.

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Psalms 119:89 – 96  (KJV)
Psa 119:89  LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
Psa 119:90  Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.
Psa 119:91  They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants.
Psa 119:92  Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.
Psa 119:93  I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me.
Psa 119:94  I am thine, save me; for I have sought thy precepts.
Psa 119:95  The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy testimonies.
Psa 119:96  I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad.
New Testament Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 3:16 – 4:4  (KJV)
2 Tim 3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2 Tim 3:17  That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Tim 4:1  I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Tim 4:2  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2 Tim 4:3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2 Tim 4:4  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Transforming Power Statements:

#1) The very way we live and view the world is directly proportional to   what we believe about the authenticity and authority of the Bible, and is therefore based on what we believe we know about God and our responsibility before Him. In other words, we believe His administration is precise or it is not.

#2) The Scriptures themselves teach that they are precise and binding on every soul and strictly warns us not to tamper with them but to hold them in highest esteem and count on them even unto death, knowing that only God has power over all things and has loved us and made one way for all people to escape His holy wrath in the day of judgment.

#3) Giving mankind His Word is a wonderful perfect thing that God has provided for all to have equal access to understanding Him and His Son and His Spirit, since they have generally been invisible to most since the beginning of time, and the Word has been available to everyone from Moses till the present.
