The Father The Son and You

Pastor Fisher and His family and official staff of Straight Gate Ministries would like to extend a most heartfelt Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers today. In honor of this occasion our lesson in Mark’s Gospel just happens to fall right on an appropriate text to teach us something of this marvelous relationship fathers have with their offspring as well as instructing us how there is  one central issue in the Bible concerning the person and work of Jesus the Messiah, which is the very dividing line between those in correct standing with God the Father and those who are lost and without God in the world. Just who is this “Son of David” that is so often mentioned in holy writ? Just how important is it to understand all these things? Well open your bible take a few notes and listen in today as we return to our ongoing study through the gospel of Mark in chapter twelve as our teacher Pastor Fisher shares in a lesson which he calls “The Father, The Son and You” So, open your bibles and listen in, as we pray along with our teacher.

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Psalms 110:1 – 7  (KJV)

Psa 110:1  A Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

Psa 110:2  The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.

Psa 110:3  Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.

Psa 110:4  The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

Psa 110:5  The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.

Psa 110:6  He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries.

Psa 110:7  He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.

New Testament Scripture Reading: Mark 12:35 – 40  (KJV)
Mark 12:35  And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?
Mark 12:36  For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Mark 12:37  David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.
Mark 12:38  And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,
Mark 12:39  And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:
Mark 12:40  Which devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.
Transforming Power Statements: #1) God created Adam in His own image and likeness and therefore shared with him the role of father which was an eternal reality which He Himself cherished from all eternity since He also had a Son, namely Jesus Who is Called Christ. (Or Messiah)

#2) The doctrine of Jesus as God’s only Son is at the very heart of the gospel message and is therefore the greatest point of contention among unbelievers, because the Bible makes it abundantly clear in both Testaments that the worship of the Son {The Christ} is The Father’s requirement for salvation and proper fellowship with God.#3) While mostly no one denies that existence of Jesus, and also admit that He was supernaturally extraordinary, countless millions including the Jews, have rejected Jesus as The Messiah, The Son of David, The only Savior sent from God as Jesus Himself taught, while we endeavor to teach the whole world soul by soul that there is salvation in no one else but Jesus therefore, we ask do ‘you’ believe Jesus is the Christ the only begotten Son of God?
